It is with deepest sadness that Michael Scott Fuhrman (Scotty) passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 peacefully at home with his family at his side. Scotty is survived by his most loving and caring wife and best friend Pamela, his son Michael and daughter Nancy. Brothers Richard Fuhrman (Shannon), Steven Fuhrman. Sisters Ruth Fuhrman Sibley (Bill), Anne Fuhrman Wilson (Garry), Suzane F. Miles and Sara Fuhrman Dodd (Ernie). Scotty's brothers-in-law are Charlie Wilkerson (Marilyn), Rick WIlkerson (Sharon), and Lynn WIlkerson (Vickie). Scotty also leaves behind his beloved pets Osi Lee and Dreamy. There are many nieces and nephews who were loved deeply.
Scotty was preceded in death by his parents-Marion Scott Fuhrman and LaVerne (Mike) Fuhrman.
Scotty graduated from Clifton Forge High School and Marshall University with a degree in education. He taught elementary school in Roanoke City Schools for 36 years before retiring. After this he enjoyed playing golf with friends and his son and was a magnificent gardener. He also enjoyed coaching for the North Roanoke Rec Club and JV softball for Northside.
He will lovingly be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, and brother who had a keen sense of humor while he took care of everyone. He was thoughtful, kind, and compassionate person to everyone-family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
A special thanks go to the Amedisys Hospice Team- Stephanie, Carmelita, Matt, Leah, Dustin, Marcie, and Dr. Tiffany Powell. The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Amedisys Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Troy Mays officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
