Obituary of Susan Kilgore Hill

Susan Kilgore Hill, 78, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on October 11, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Kathryn and James Kilgore. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Frank; son Frank III, sisters, Cheryl Concepcion of Odenton, Maryland and Kathy Owens of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; niece Lynn Bartolotta and nephew Nicolas Concepcion. 

Susan graduated from Alderson Broaddus University in 1964 and immediately started her teaching career. She taught English at Cave Spring High School for 20 years. Following retirement, she and Frank travelled with friends to five continents and always brought back mementos from each country for family and friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed solving the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle and going to the movies with friends. She was a loving and loyal wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher. 

The family would like to thank the special care and attention provided by Good Samaritan Hospice and the nursing staff of Memorial Hospital. Susan will be honored with a celebration of her life Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Electric Road Chapel. Guests will be received from 1-2 pm Friday October 15, 2021 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
