Obituary of Ronald Jerry Phillips

Ronald Jerry Phillips, a loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2021.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife Karen Sue Phillips and his ex-wife Shirley Jean Phillips as well as his mother Virginia Dare Underwood and his brother Bobby Phillips.  He was the father to four beautiful daughters Rebecca Claypool of Beckley, WV; Lisa Hurst of St. Augustine, FL; Janet Callahan of White Oak, WV; and Kelly Hunter of White Oak, WV.  He also had a son, Brian Phillips and daughter-in-law, Jessica Phillips, both of Roanoke, VA.  He was the grandfather to 10 grandchildren.

Ronnie grew up in Beckley, WV and had adventures all over the world as he served in the Army and worked as a truck driver.  He spent the last few years of his life in Roanoke, VA with his son Brian, his daughter-in-law Jessica, and his grandchildren Riley, Jacob, Benjamin and Logan Phillips.  The highlight of his days was to see the boys and go to dinner and share his stories.  His pride and joy was his family.  Ronnie was loved by everyone that knew him and the whole room would light up when he walked in.  Despite having advancing Alzheimer’s, he always recognized the faces of his grandchildren and jumped up to give them a hug when they walked in.  He will be missed by so many.
