Obituary of Bobby Lee Martin

Bobby Lee Martin, 81, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with Lord on Monday, August 9, 2021. He passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Bob served his country in the U S Army. He had a rewarding career with State Farm Insurance Company as a claims adjuster and especially enjoyed helping others by going onsite for disaster storm duty. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, traveling and being outdoors.

Bob never met a stranger and was always there to help others in anyway that he could. Whenever anyone would ask Bob how he was doing the reply was always the same, “I can’t complain”. And he never did. He was gentle soul.

He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Debra and amazing father to his daughters Bridget and Tiffany.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Debra; daughters and sons-in-law Bridget and Tim Martin and Tiffany and Edward Gates. grandchildren Joshua Link and Jordyn Austin and great granddaughter Paisley Link.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Willie Martin of Salem,Va, sister Betty Willis and brother Richard Martin.

We would be honored for family and friends to celebrate the life of this wonderful man with us. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA. There will be no visitation.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
