Obituary of Helen Lucille Spencer Brown
Helen Lucille Spencer Brown, 85, of Roanoke, left to be with her Heavenly Father on July 27, 2021, as her family stood by her side. She was born on August 15, 1935 in Frankford, WV, to the late William Sanford Spencer and Eula Leona Boggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Brown; sisters, Marie “Sis” Baker and Frances “Murt” Zink; grandson, Nathan Ryan Brown; and best friend, Francis “Maw Maw” Morgan.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Lynn Cauley (Earl), Tammy Woolwine (Dennis), and Beth Jones (Jason); sons, Gene Brown (Terrie) and Ronald “Bud” Brown (Jackie Ann); grandkids, Dennis Cauley (Dana), Steven Cauley (Heather), Jacob Cundiff (Crystal), Hunter Brown, Lynzee Morgan Mendez (Mikeal), Robert “Willie” Brown (Jennifer), Jake Grieshaber (Alyssa), Jason Grieshaber (Kelly), Megan Williamson, Stephanie Gonzalez (Preston), Jason Jones (Candace), Justin Jones, Ashley Goodwin (Ronnie), Joshua Brown (MacKenzie), Aaron Jones (Ashley), Christopher Shelton (Sarah), Brett Jones, Tiffany Shelton, and Justin Jones; great grandkids, Cash, Anslee, Jaxon, Sutton, K-Leigh, Karolena, Kensington, Peyton, Emma, Ryan, Harrison, Waylon, Willa, and Merrin; brother, William “Gene” Boggs (Donna); sisters, Joyce Callison and Florence “Putes” Sellards; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Windon and Bobbie Brown; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, too many to mention.
Helen was one of the renowned Spencer girls. She has gone to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior. Helen was a wonderful homemaker, who provided for her family first and foremost. She was a loving and caring woman, who could do anything she set her mind to doing. When looking, she was able to get any job she desired, although her main job was her family.
Helen was an experienced seamstress and crafter. She made clothes for her children when they were younger, and she could always quickly make an evening gown for a Shriner’s event, usually that same day. Helen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she enjoyed many trips with her husband, Bill, during his tenure as a Kazim Shriner.
It was obvious to all that Helen loved and cherished her family and friends. You could always get a meal at her house if you stopped by it. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids, as well as looking at pictures of them. WE LOVE YOU MOM!!!
The family will hold a Visitation at Simpson Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00pm on Friday, July 30, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00pm and be officiated by Pastor Jerry Parr.
