Obituary of Gloria Claudine Wilson Childress

Gloria Claudine Wilson Childress, 95, widow of Edgar Hurley Childress, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Rural Retreat, VA and was the daughter of the late Thomas Wilson Smith and the late Maggie B. Barbary Childress. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Wayne Childress and Benny Gene Childress and several brothers and sisters.

She will be missed and remembered by her son, Tim Childress and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Shawn Allen Childress and Kelly Glenn Childress; as well as four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Mays officiating. There will be a private entombment for the family following the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Simpson Funeral Home.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Helping Hands and Good Samaritan Hospice for the love and care that was shown to Gloria during her illness.
