Obituary of Edward Cromer

Edward “Bud” Cromer, 91, passed away on June 28, 2021 at his residence. He was born on June 30, 1929 and was a lifelong resident of Roanoke, Virginia.

He married the love of his life, Colene, on December 7, 1957 and spent the next 63 years making memories and building their loving family.

He proudly served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1951. In 1952 he became an active member of the Roanoke Lifesaving Crew and was proudly inducted as a Life Member in 1965. He had a passion for helping others and was always there to lend a hand. He was known for his contagious humor and his witty demeanor which will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Lena Mae Cromer; sisters, Billie Hammond and Rossie Honaker; grandson, Joshua Nix and great-granddaughter, Alorah Cromer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sina Colene Sumner Cromer; sons, Edward “Buddy”, Mark (Kim), Dwayne (Angela); daughters, Debbie Sarver and Denise Cromer; grandchildren, Chris (Gina), Jeremy (Corrie), Robert “RJ”, Logan, Mandy (Matthew), Miranda, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Brayden; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Blake, Abby, Levi, Jordun, Liam, Alston, Ava and Arrie; brother, Robert “Bob” Cromer; nephew, Glenn Barry Hammond (Vickie).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 4 to7 PM at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd. Interment will be private.
