Obituary of Morris Clay Mundy, Jr.
Morris Clay Mundy Jr., “Mac”, 76, of Vinton, VA passed away June 16, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 20, 1944 in Botetourt, VA to Morris Clay Mundy Sr., and Helen May Newcomb Mundy. He was preceded in death by both his parents, and good friend Gary Obenchain.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Mundy; daughter Kalyn Mundy; granddaughter Riley Tucker “BB”. Brothers, John (Kathy) Mundy, Otho “Lee” (Terry) Mundy. Good friend Dennis Cawley, and loving companion Bo.
Mac served in the Untied States Army and was discharged as a Sergeant in 1973. After serving, he went on to race cars, drive over the road as a truck driver before starting his steel recycling business. He enjoyed spending his free time collecting Bells, Depression glass, riding his John Deere tractor, splitting wood and spending time with his pride and joy Riley.
Mac was a kind, loving, generous soul with a quick witted sense of humor who will be missed by all those who knew him. The family would like to thank friends, neighbors, and the staff of Carilion Hospice, and Blue Ridge Cancer Center, for all their love and care during his final days. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Chapel. The Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
