Obituary of W. Gene Wicker

W. Gene Wicker, 83, of Salem passed away Monday, May 17, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Ada A. Wicker; and a sister, Frankie Burton.

Gene retired after proudly serving his country in the U S Navy for 28 years.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His hobbies included fast cars and talking on the C B Radio.

Surviving are his daughters, L. Kathy Wicker Jenkins,and Dawn (Tom) Farrill; son, Joe (Sue) Ruby; grandchildren, Jason (Rheagan) Meyer, Jr., Bobby (Geneva) Meyer, Justus Wicker Jenkins, Kayla Jenkins Munguia, Samantha Jeanne Weiss, Aaron (Chelsey) Farrill, Aric (Sherry) Farrill, Aaden Farrill and Adrian Farrill; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Tex (Joy) Wicker; and numerous nieces and nephews including Lennie and Janice Atwood; special family members, Kimberly Atwood, Rob Miller, Ben, Joe, and Sophie Anderson, Chris and Madeline Atwood.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
