Obituary of Daniel William Shadler

Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Daniel William (Bill) Shadler, 83, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021.  He died at home, surrounded by family, secure in his faith.

He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife of 60 years, Reba Shadler; and his daughter and son and their spouses, Sandi (Layne) and Mike (Tami). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Evan (Ally), Chelsea (Hunter), Meleah and Kayla; and four precious great-grandchildren, Peyton, Piper, Beckham and Lacey. To anyone who knew him, it was very apparent that God came first in his life and his family meant the world to him.

He worked for 32 years at GE in Salem, retiring in 1997, and spent the last 24 years enjoying retirement and his family.  He didn’t know a stranger and he was not only a husband, father, grandfather and pillar to his natural family, but he also was a brother, friend and pillar to his spiritual family.  He was known as “Shad” to his many fellow GE coworkers and pre-Covid enjoyed monthly breakfasts with his retired buddies.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Dennis Kinnan and Jared Snyder.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
