Obituary of Jack Buford McClanahan

Jack B. McClanahan, 84, widower of Sidney Lee McClanahan, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born in Roanoke and was the son of the late Berkley T. McClanahan and the late Myrtle Burns McClanahan. In addition to his wife of 58 years he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Lee McClanahan and a brother, Tom McClanahan. He was an avid entrepreneur and was the owner of Jack’s BarBQ and Orange Dog Restaraunts.

Jack will be missed and remembered by his children, Jackie Porter (John), Sallie Godwin (Mack) and Michael Shawn McClanahan; grandchildren, Jacob A. Porter (Leah), Jennifer L. Corbitt (Dave), Andrew M. Jackson and Emilie Jackson; great-grandchildren, Oscar Porter, Liam Porter, Cadence Abelseth, Olivia Porter, Dakota Corbitt, Shane Peterson.

A Celebration of life service will be held in the coming months. Plans will be announced by Simpson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fl 33607.
