Obituary of David Wayne Scott

David Wayne Scott, 54, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Roanoke and was the son of Brenda Gordon Smith and the late Robert L. Scott, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert J. Gordon and his wife Mary M. Gordon, Robert L. Scott, Sr. and his wife Catherine Scott.

David was a retired self-employed contractor who traveled the country doing in store resets for large retail stores. He loved to build things and was a perfectionist when it came to woodworking and carpentry. He also had a love for music and played the drums in various bands in his early years. He was a member of Garden City Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his mother, he will be missed and remembered by his siblings, Francine Yates, Margaret Wood, Robert Scott III and Andrew Scott; nephews, Donavan Bush and Ryan Yates; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Simpson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to a go fund me account that has been set up to help the family thru this time.
