Cyril McCaffery, 89, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021. He was the last of the children born to Peter and Jessie Highfield McCaffery of Widnes England.

Cyril was a graduate of Liverpool University earning a degree in Accounting. After working for many years in the Accounting field, Cyril retired in 1996. In 2003 Cyril immigrated to the U.S. and married Patricia. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2008. He took great pride in becoming a U.S. citizen. During retirement he enjoyed his membership in the Big Lick Saturday Morning Breakfast Club as well as his time spent with the World War II Action Club that meets at Brandon Oaks. He also worked in retirement as a case worker for the British Legion, an organization that assists veterans securing the benefits and assistance to which they were entitled.

During his time in Roanoke, he enjoyed traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoying the mountains and scenes of nature.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Allison McCaffery; son, Robert McCaffery of Gloucester England; sister-in-law, Dilys McCaffery of Sedbergh England.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the family will plan a celebration of Cyril’s life at some time in the future.
