Obituary of Lorraine Dudar Rouse

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lorraine Gale “Lori” Rouse, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Pheasant Ridge Senior Living.  Lori was a loving & devoted wife to her husband Jim and loving supportive mother to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Lori was preceded in death by her son, Tracy Alan Rouse; brother Bobby Dudar; and parents Michael and Katherine Dudar.

Lori graduated from High School and joined the Canadian Air Force and then transferred to the United States Air Force.  She was stationed in Hawaii, England, Colorado, Virginia, Alaska, and North Dakota. She was an excellent golfer, so the USAF sent her around the country playing golf.  When she retired, she worked for Sears catalog company and then Wells Fargo bank.  In the summer, she would travel to Vermillion Bay Canada with her husband and youngest daughter to work in the family business.  Once the business closed, she remained in Virginia and spent time with family.

Her husband, Jim Rouse, survived her by eleven short days. Surviving are her children Tammy (Arthur) and Sandra (Tim), daughter-in-law Karen (deceased son Tracy), brother-in law Robert “Eddie” “Bob” (Phyllis), sister Barbara, brother’s David and Allan. Also survived by five grandchildren she was very proud of, Nikolaus (Gabrielle), Chase, Kyra (Joseph), Tyler, and Clinton, as well as three great grandchildren James, Elena, and Anna Grace (born shortly before her death). Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.

She was a giver, she always believed the more we give, the more we get back.  When you think of Lorraine remember to laugh often, to find the best in others, and to leave this world a better place, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a donation to a favorite charity.

A private graveside service will be held to rember both Jim and Lori Rouse on Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, VA.
