James A. Roberts, 86, of Troutville went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 26, 2011. He was born in McDow County, West Virginia on October 23, 1925 a son of the late Harvey and Sarah Kennedy Roberts. In addition to his parents, brothers, and sisters, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Owens Roberts. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. James was a member of Faith Life Baptist Church and the Lions Club. He retired after 40 years of service with Rubatex of Bedford. Surviving are his son and daughter in law, James and Loretta Roberts of Troutville; grandchildren, Mark Christopher Mitchell, Gary Wayne Mitchell, Brian Keith Mitchell and wife Felisha; great grandchildren, Dakoda, Hannah, and Logan Mitchell; and his k-9 buddies Elvis and Priscilla. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Ronnie Ragland. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
