Obituary of Delores Evelyn Barker

Delores “Dolly” Evelyn Rogers Barker, 88, widow of James Barker, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Skyline Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born in Ohio she was the daughter of the late Paul E. Rogers and the late Edith Lucille Hall.

Dolly was a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church where she was very active through the years serving as a group captain, choir member, and on the property committee. She was previously a member of Barrett’s Chapel Church in Ohio.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Barker (Frances), Debbie Barker, Danny Barker, and Daisy McDow; grandchildren, Jennifer Hall, James Philpott, Wendy Kline, Susan Petry, Jimmy Barker, and Christina Swing; a brother, Eugene Rogers; 13 great-grandchildren and multiple great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mark Washington officiating and assisted by Angel Jones. The family will speak to friends following the service at the cemetery.
