Deputy Atwood was a great man. I just heard of his passing today. Atwood gave me alot of encouragement while I was in Roanoke County Jail. Thanks for all you've done for the community. God has gained an amazing angel.

Anna and Bernard, we cannot adequately express our sympathy and condolences over the passing of Chris. We both have such fond memories of your entire family during the “football years”, throughout the seasons of winning and losing. Chris was always willing to do whatever the coaches needed, and it was a pleasure to be a small part of his and your families memories. We’re so very sorry.

The first time I met Christopher he was maybe 8 or 9 years old. I worked with his mom, Anna, at Dominion Bank on Peters Creek Rd back in the 90's. Anna and I immediately became "besties" and she has been a loyal friend all these years. The funniest thing I remember her telling me was when her and Bernard adopted Chris' little brother, Derek, Chris put the baby in a suitcase with diapers and a bottle and told his mom he was sending him back to the hospital where he came from! Chris said Derek cried too much and he needed peace and quiet! Lol!!! Chris was a typical big brother always trying to look after his little brother and keep him safe! Chris loved his family and was devoted to them! He loved his parents and his brother dearly. He will truly be missed by all who knew him!

Coach Hickam and I would like to send our thought and prayers to Chris's family in this very sad time. He was a pleasure to coach. Always giving his best and helping others to do the same. Voted most improved by his team mates his senior year. A true member of the Brotherhood

Photo of Christopher at his college graduation party. We had the honor and joy of sharing our home with him for a couple of years while he attended Liberty University. Dear precious Christopher, we will never forget you and will love you forever. I wish we had one more day to help you fight the darkness. I remember praying for your adoption before you were born and was blessed to watch you grow into a wonderful man. Every day of your life was a gift and I pray your light shines through your children as they grow. Many prayers and deepest condolences to all that love you.
