Marilyn K. Gibson, 72, of Troutville departed this life on Thursday, November 24, 2011 to return to her Heavenly Father and elder brother Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her father Oda Erman Hart and mother Rita Etoile Jenner Hart. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, John R. Gibson; daughters and sons in law, Tonda and Terry Yates, Trinda and Jeff Huffman; son and daughter in law, Cody and Nancy Gibson; sister and brother in law, DeJon and Starling Mobley; grandchildren, Amanda, Justin, Brandon (Skippy), Ryan and Madelyn great grandsons, Nathan (Nate) and Colton. Marilyn met John while racing their cars. She won and never let him live it down. She was a life long member of The Church of Latter Day Saints where she served many in the Relief Society, Young Womens Primary class and Food Storage to name a few. She loved going to Girls Camp where she served as the camp cook. She truly loved those she served and served with all her heart, might, mind, and strength. She was an example to all those around her. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Angels of Assisi 415 Campbell Avenue Roanoke, Virginia 24016. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
