My mama was the best. She was loving, caring, and tough as nails. I will miss her hugs, miss sharing stories of my life and hers with her, miss her wonderful meals, miss her kind heart. Mom/Grammy/Grandmommy sent out hand picked cards to family and friends, for every holiday, anniversary, and birthday. Birthday's and Christmas's always included some small gift no matter how old her babies and grand babies got. She made sure we knew that we were important and special. I cannot remember a birthday before Mama went into the nursing home that I did not get a call first thing in the morning to wish me a happy birthday and tell me that I was loved (Mama always wanted to be the first one we each heard from in the morning, and we were all in competition to do the same on her birthday). Going to miss Mom, every day.

I used to say, if you looked up “mom” in the dictionary you’d find a picture of my sweet mama. Even having had eight children, she managed to make each of us feel like a special individual. She was involved in everything we did, serving as a Den mother, Brownie troop leader, Girl Scout leader, Band aid, chaperone. I even recall her making cheerleader uniforms for me and my sisters when my brother’s football team needed someone to cheer them on. All of our friends would flock to our house and be welcomed for dinner (with the ten of us) and would talk with my mom as a trusted confidant when they needed an ear/shoulder. Funny thing is, I remember being embarrassed as a child when she would introduce me to strangers (no one was a stranger to my mom) as her 7th child of eight. We were her world. Later she had grandchildren and great grandchildren to shower with her limitless love. She truly was the best and will be missed beyond words. My solace comes from these and many more beautiful memories.
I love you mom, always.
Yours,
Elizabeth

My aunt Joanie was only ten years older than I. When I was five, I remember riding in the rumble seat of her boyfriend's car. That was fun! I visited her and all my eight cousins in the 60's when I lived in DC. It was a warm, fun and loving place. I remember that hamburg soup! Joanie was there for me when I went through a rough patch, and when my mom, her sister, died. Love you Joanie, you are the best!
