I am so heartbroken about Joyce passing away. I first met Joyce at Pheasant Ridge Senior Living in the memory care department as I was being interviewed for a position there. Her beautiful smile and her positive spirit had us connected right then. I actually became the Memory Support Director there and fell in love with her. I'm not supposed to have favorites but she was to me. I truly enjoyed spending time with her and she felt the love that we shared. I am so Blessed for what I do there and truly care for our residents. I was sad when she moved out of our facility and now that she is gone I'm so heartbroken. I know that she is in a better place and so loved Jesus. RIP Joyce until we meet again! Prayers to her family and may God give y'all peace and comfort!!

Beth, you chose a beautiful photopgraph of your Mother. She always was a pretty lady and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent together working with the Roanoke Valley Reading Council, other school committees, and diuscussing my aunt and her princpal at Roland E. Cook, Frances Adkins. Aunt Frances was always pleased with the care and quality of instruction your Mom provided for those students under her tutilage. I was so pleased the year I learned you would be a student in my class. Many times teachers did not want other teacher's kids in their class, but I was so pleased, because I liked your Mom so much. You were, indeed, a joy to have in class. After you graduated and moved on in your life, it was always so nice to run across her and reconnect again. I KNOW you will greatly miss her, but I feel sure you have tons of good memories to help sustain you in these difficult days and months ahead. Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Lovingly remembered,
Diane Stout Grant

Joyce was a beautiful and sweet lady with a wicked sense of humor. I met her in our Red Hat group and missed her very much when she could no longer attend. God bless, Joyce, and I hope we meet again some day.

Joyce was my first small group leader. She was a wonderful woman of god who contributed a lot to my spiritual development. I will never forget the many meetings at her home and the fantastic meals she would make for us. She was such a sweet lady. I will miss her tremendously.

Joyce's brother, Jack, was married to my aunt Mamie. I remember meeting Joyce when I was a child and thought she was so sweet and beautiful. When I was studying to become a teacher, I observed her teaching one day, and was impressed by her compassion and love of teaching. I wanted to be like her. I am very sorry to hear of her passing, and I feel blessed to have known her.

Joyce McLemore was my daughter's first grade teacher at Roland E. Cook. She was nothing short of a model of excellence. When I think of her I see her radiant face and beautiful smile. She had a deep love for children and desired to impact their lives not only in the area of academics but also to be a role model to them of what great character looks like. Our family was blessed to have our path cross with hers. Heaven is sweeter because she is there!
