Sandra Louise Hypes Bailey, 84, wife of J.A. Douglas Bailey Jr., passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at her home. Born in Bluefield West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. Hypes and the late Trixie Louise Bowers Hypes. Sandra worked as a sales associate for Revco and CVS Pharmacies for more than 40 years. In addition to her husband of 68 years she is survived by her children, Christie B. Walden, Randy Bailey and his wife Sheila Updike, Sheri Roberts and her husband Steve, Pamala Stump and her husband Paul, and Mary Bailey; grandchildren, Lauren Lewis and her husband Jacob, Robyn Walden, Jessica Bailey, Shelby Bailey and his wife Courtney Rocovich-Bailey, Bailey Roberts, Hartley Roberts, and Jennifer Morris and her husband Steve, along with 5 great-grandchildren and a brother, Jordan Hypes. She was predeceased by a son, Dr. Rev. Jeffery A.D. Bailey; a grandson, Jonathan Bailey; 3 brothers and 1 sister. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd., Roanoke. A private family service will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made in honor of Sandra to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline with checks made to Vibrant Emotional Help, Attention Development, 50 Broadway, Floor 19, New York, NY, 10004 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA, 02241-7005.
