What a great guy, friend, father and fraternity brother. David's remarkable acts of kindness, honesty, dependability and friendship are traits I can only hope rub off on all of us. David had another side that was just as important. He was tough, fiercely competitive and helped motivate a lot of us in difficult times. In the 70's our time together at ETSU and EX gave us an opportunity to bond a special friendship. His life and departure serves to remind me how a few short years with someone like him can have such an impact that lasts forever. Well done my good and faithful friend!

Condolences to Family and friends of my fraternity brother, David Franklin. I remember when David first came to ETSU over 45 years ago along with Barry Blair and Barry Holland. A few years later Shields Jarret and Jerry Schumpert added to the Roanoke Crew. David was a wonderful fraternity brother for many years and I was blessed to have known him and be able to rekindle the bonds of brotherhood and friendship over the last year and half when David would meet my wife Ann and I at Mac and Bob’s in Salem, VA when we stopped for lunch on our visits to our daughter who lives in the DC area. I hope it gives you a small amount of joy at this difficult time to know that David was thought so highly by so many of his friends and fraternity brothers. Peace, love, thoughts, and prayers with each of you.

I went to college with David and will always remember our good times. He as a great athlete, a great friend and was always there if you needed assistance. If you wanted to emulate someone, he would be the best person to follow as an example.
My prayers go out for him and his family.

David and I were classmates at Breckinridge and Fleming. He loved his family and friends. It was always a pleasure to see him, Ravenelle, Jared and Kassie. Jared and Kassie, your parents have left many wonderful memories that you will cherish. Visit the memories daily, as they will carry you down this different and difficult path that you will now walk.

David and I met in 1974 at ETSU. He was my good friend ever since. We played a lot of basketball together on a legendary team known as the “Not So Goods”. We even moved some furniture together, an experience I’m sure he would have liked to forget way before he probably did. David was unique and his own man. Different temperaments, talents and convictions they say can form a strong bond. He loved his wife, he loved his children and he loved a scraggly bunch of guys he met in college. His part in our equation will certainly be missed. We honor his name — David Franklin Brammer. Deepest condolences to his family.

Dave, just like his mother, had a knack for telling stories. I could listen to his stories all day

David is and will always be a benchmark for what many of us strive to be. I have spent very little time with him since our collegiate days; however, he created an impression on me the night I met him at ETSU that has remained with me throughout my years. To all of you he leaves behind, I am truly sorry for your loss.
