Dr. Stallions was one of my most memorable professors at Roanoke College over the years. She generously gave a lot of her personal time and her lifetime of research to help me with my honors work in education. Her anedotes about life, family, teaching, and sci-fi movies were always lively and spirited - just like Dr. Stallions herself. I am thankful I was able to know her, and I thank her family for sharing her with us in the Roanoke College Education Department.

Maria will be remembered for her dedication and kindness to others. She shared with me her love for reading God's word. His word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path (Ps 119:105). Praying for her friends and family.

Whenever anything happened that pertained to family, Maria was the first one to say that family comes first. It didn't matter what was going on at work, she always put family before anything else. She was so proud when showing us the pictures and videos of her grandbabies and family. I know she loved the Lord because all her passwords would be whatever scripture verse she was studying at that time. May you all have comfort in the knowledge that she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior right now.

I remember so many things about Maria! Her wonderful bread pudding-!her love of the Scottish Highland Games at Greenhill Park- I can see her standing in the mists of the park listening to bagpipe music! She and Brian and sometimes the girls would stand with our family and watch the Christmas parade in front of Mill MountainCoffee and Tea in Salem. She loved the coffee there. She loved God mightily and knew that was serious business!!The business of loving one another as Christ loved the church- something she tried to do with all that was in her! I know she dances joyfully before our Great God now! May your whole family be comforted in this. We love you all!- The Whitts
