Imagine a time in the future when those in the grave will be brought back to life here on earth! The Bible repeatedly speaks of such a time. Describing what conditions on earth will then ne like, the Bible states that God “will wipe out every tear from [our] eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”- Revelation 21:3,4. Many who believe in Jehovah the God of the Bible are significantly empowered to cope with grief by embracing the hope of seeing their dead loved ones again.

Heaven gained an Angel Friday, my 2nd dad, my Dougie. I worked with him at Graybar for many years and after his retirement we continued our friendship as he would come in to make copies, drink coffee and socialize. I knew him for 26 1/2 years and he was like a 2nd dad to me and I the daughter he never had as he told many. He was Pops at the office as many called him, but Dougie to me. I never saw him mad and put others before himself always. Graybar Roanoke will never be the same. Love you Dougie and will miss you terribly.

Doug was a relatively new friend of ours who we met 4 years through mutual friends in his local Broadway Theatre Group. We are blessed to have known him and to have shared numerous theatre performances with Doug and Sheila and their theatre group. Our theatre evenings always began with a group dinner at the New Yorker Deli where Doug made sure the newbies knew the best sandwiches and the table had a bag of chips to compliment dinner. Out next show and dinner won’t be the same without our friend Doug. Dave and Diane Lohr

I've been honoured to have known Doug (Pops) for 21 years. We were thrown together as a sales team at Graybar when I first transferred to the Roanoke branch. We worked together for 14 yrs. We quickly became close friends and I grew to know him as a father figure. I always sought out his advice be it a personal or professional issue. He was the most genuine and loving person I could have known.
It's so hard to pen the words that truly reflect the impact, the joy, the fun that Pops brought with him. Sometimes at work I could be having just a horrible day. But then Pops walked into the office and it was as if those issues just vanished for a while. He would come in, get his coffee, sit at HIS desk...make phone calls...plan his itinerary...make his rounds around the office and leave. But when he left, the atmosphere was better! The issues that seemed so daunting suddenly came into perspective and really weren't that bad.
I'm so glad I got to spend some time with Doug and Sheila several days ago when I went to their house. I was a good visit.
You will be missed Doug, but never forgotten.
Love ya Pops!

I am glad to be in a family with so much love and caring for each other. Doug was a great cousin, always cheerful and easy-going. When growing up, our families got together every Sunday and on Christmas. Always he was laughing and happy!
Even now, Doug is laughing and happy -forever and ever. We celebrate your life, Doug, although we mourn your loss on earth.

Today, God took home another angel. He was a member of my family and so loved by all that knew him. Doug was an awesome soul that always put others first. He was a family comedian and a guy that would give you the shirt off his back. There is a hole in my heart tonight. I know he is in a better place but all will miss him greatly. Please pray for his wife. She is a strong woman but Doug was her life. I am so happy that he hung on until Jim and I could tell him goodbye yesterday. You are now at peace and will be loved forever. Anyone that knew him is blessed to have known him. Love you Doug Proffit. The last 40 years have been a pleasure. You were never an ”inlaw”. You were the real deal!
