Obituary of Vernia Duncan Ferguson

Vernia Duncan Ferguson, 91, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 7, 2019.  She was preceded by her husband, Henry W. Ferguson, Jr.; daughter, Faye Thomas; parents, Arthur and Alice Duncan; and a sister, Minnie (Hugh) Payne.

Vernia will long be remembered by her family as the best mom ever.

Surviving are her children, Cecil (Georgia) Ferguson, Carolyn (Mark) Caldwell, Tammy (Ronald) Nichols, and Billy Thomas; grandchildren, Missy Stiltner, Chris (Rhonda) Perdue, Carl Perdue, Kathryn (Nathan) St.Clair, Jennifer Ferguson, Mark (Angie) Caldwell, Jr., Adam (Kim) Caldwell, and Allyson (James) Carter; great grandchildren, Donald Perdue, Devin and Heather Perdue, Nathan St.Clair, Jr., Trevor St.Clair, Stormie Lampert and Maddie Boos, Timothy Caldwell, Justin, Ben and Emorie Caldwell; and one great great grandchild, Allie Perdue.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the staff of Carilion Hospice (especially Nathan and Jessie) for their many acts of care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
