Obituary of David M. Waltz

David M. Waltz, 72, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert and Estella Loomis Waltz; and a granddaughter, Rachael Creasy.

David proudly served his country in the U S Navy.  He retired from the Roanoke Regional office of the Veterans Administration. 

David was an accomplished musician and played in numerous local bands.  In addition, he had also played for the Temptations, Percy Sledge, the Embers, Tracy Byrd and Trace Adkins.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason,  a member of Williamson Road Masonic Lodge, Kazim Shrine Temple and the Shrine Band.

Surviving are his wife, Freida Silvers Waltz; daughters, Anna Waltz (Mike) Creasy, Susan Waltz (Boyd) Jordan; step daughter, Lorri Hanson-Wiley; grandsons, David and Devin Jordan; step grandson, Brandon Wiley; brother, Terry (Bonnie) Loomis; mother of his children, Linda B. Waltz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospitals, the Alzheimers Association, or to the Hollins Rescue Squad.

A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Very Reverend Robert Brodie.  Masonic rites by Williamson Road Lodge # 163 will follow.   The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.  366-0707
