Obituary of Thomas Jackson Cunningham, Sr.

Thomas Jackson Cunningham, Sr., 80, of Roanoke passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Ethel Dudley Cunningham; siblings, Lloyd Simmons, Charles "Sonny" Cunningham, Lorraine Bare, Peggy Buck and Barbara Wendell.

Thomas attended Andrew Lewis High School and served in the National Gaurd before enlisting and proudly serving in the Marine Corps.

Surviving are his children, Thomas J. "Butch" Cunningham, Jr., Heather (Paul) Houck; grandchildren, Jacob and Clay Cunningham, Camden and Carson Houck; siblings, Richard (Louise) Simmons, Mary Dillon, Julia Webber, Clifton Cunningham, Robert (Carolyn) Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.

Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.  A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
