Obituary of Stephen A. Woodring
Stephen A. “Steve” Woodring, 69, of Roanoke went to be with the Lord Friday, May 3, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Phyllis Woodring, and his brother, Tommy Woodring.
Steve served proudly in the United States Air Force. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand after 27 years of service and was a longtime member of North Roanoke Baptist Church. He enjoyed Hokie football, the game of golf, the Steelers, being on a ball field, but mostly he loved being with his family and friends. A very loving and caring husband, dad, “Poppy,” brother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 44 years Cathy Woodring; daughter, Kim Lee and husband Aaron of Richmond; granddaughters, Teagan and Emery Lee; nephew, Corey Woodring; along with a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Family would like to thank Home Instead Care and Generations Solutions for all the care and support during this time. And a special thanks to his sister-in-law, Peggy Kemmerlin, for her constant love and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Virginia in Mr. Woodring’s memory.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at North Roanoke Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 5:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
