Obituary of Clayton Anthony Smith

Clayton Anthony “Tippy” Smith 58 of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 30, 2019 after a 2-year battle with cancer. His father, Leonard R. Smith Sr. and his mother Armalee Harper Hodges preceded him.

 

Tippy grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia and later moved to Charleston, South Carolina where he lived for 30 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, swimming, and spending time with his family. A very loving and caring person who will be greatly missed.

 

He is survived by his brother, and best friend Leonard R. Smith Jr. and his wife Teresa; a sister, Jancey Thompson and her husband Wayne; nephews, David Thompson and his wife Patty, Douglas Thompson and wife Katy, Landon R. Smith, and Michael L. Smith; nieces, Jennifer N. Smith, Kimberly Smith Martin and her husband Nick, Jendi Thompson Fernatt and her husband Josh; three great nieces, Katelyn Thompson, Myleigh Smith, and Jaelyn Fernatt.

 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Coling Bible Chapel, 34 Spring Hollow Road, Troutville, Virginia 24175 in Tippy’s memory.

 

A memorial service celebrating Tippy's life will be held 7:00p Friday May  3, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Michael D. Hogan officiating. Inurnment will be private. Family will recieve friends Friday from 5:00pm until service time at the funeral home.
