Obituary of Daniel Thorne MacLeod

Daniel Thorne MacLeod, 16, of Roanoke passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sandra MacLeod, Danny Durand, and William King; great grandfather, Douglas Shaw; sister, Shannon MacLeod; and best friend, Katie Thurston.

Daniel was a student at Patrick Henry High School where he served as a junior wrestling coach.  He also served as an ambassador with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  His hobbies included camping and swimming.

Surviving are his father and mother, John and Janel MacLeod; grandparents, Terri Jackson, Roderick MacLeod, and Keith and Deborah Wise; great grandparents, Darleen and Andrew Feil; sisters, Winter and Angie MacLeod; brother, John MacLeod; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and other family members and friends too numerous to mention.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Funeral services will be conducted at Noon, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with the Revs. Robert and Dusty Fiedler officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
