Obituary of Mary St. Clair Whitt

Mary St.Clair Whitt 92, of Roanoke passed away Sunday March 10, 2019. She was born May 5, 1926 in Huntington, West Virginia.  One of 10 children. She was later raised in Giles County and then spent most of her adult life in Roanoke Va. She is preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Ray Whitt Sr., also her parents William Cecil St.Clair and wife Nannie Belle, and one grandson, Matthew Woods.

 

She is survived by one sister, Sue Mimi Long; two sons, Chuck Woods, and wife Sue, and Thomas Whitt Jr. and wife Teresa; daughter, Nancy Lusk and husband Steve,  along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She enjoyed years of membership with the Jaycees and Hidden Valley Country Club, where she and her husband Ray enjoyed playing golf and socializing with friends. Mary had many interests, but she especially enjoyed home making and gardening, particularly with her roses.  She also had a special interest in artwork, and enjoyed painting with water colors. 

 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Bethel Ridge Assisted Living, Berkshire Rehab Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care.

 

A memorial service will be held on March 16th at 1:00 at Evergreen Burial Park in the Chapel of Light, 1307 Summit Avenue  SW, Roanoke, Virginia 24015 with Pastor Mike Lauridsen officiating, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Ray of 54 years.
