Dear Judy, We were so saddened to hear of David's death. Sure wish we could be there. I talked to my mom who told me of her visit to the funeral home and how she enjoyed seeing a number of folk she hadn't seen in awhile. I talked to Sam & Sally also. Although we live far away now, we have fond memories of our family get-togethers with you and David and the rest of the family. I loved listening to the fun stories. May the Lord give you peace during this time of grief. We love you,
Mike & Barbara

Dear Layman Family,
Death leaves painful scars upon the hearts of the living. Think what it would mean to see a time when death would be no more! Never would you have to go to a cemetery and mourn the loss of someone you loved. The Bible says: “The last enemy, death is to be destroyed.”—1 Cor. 15:26. God will also “wipe out every tear” from our eyes and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. (Revelations 21:4). This comforting promise gives hope to those who mourn. It removes the awful feeling of finality that death brings and gives hope that loved ones that have died will live again.
The article "Dealing with grief" will help you cope with the death of your loved one.

Regina

Fifty years ago, my class graduated from Rappahannock County High School. As a new teacher, “Mr. Layman” wasn’t much older than us, and we all adored him!!! Laid back with an easy manner, and a “perceived” :-) love for all of us! I’ve thought about him often through the years. Him, and so many other great educators like him! Sincere condolences to his family and friends!

David was a dear friend for more than 60 years, and Marsha and I will miss him immensely. No surprise that he was the Most Popular boy in our WFHS61 Senior Class, he was easily the most likeable guy I ever met. I was blessed to have known him all those years.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. He was my golf coach for 4 years at Andrew Lewis H.S. and I can't think of a better person. He always took the time to film our swings at the driving
range with his 8mm recorder and we'd get the film back and watch it on his reel to reel projector. Sounds crazy today, but it was something that truly helped me become a better player. I'm very grateful for his help & guidance. A website I use asks for the name of a childhood mentor as a security question, and his name is my answer. Rest in peace my friend.

To The Layman Family, I am sorry to learn of the passing of David, have not seen him for many years. I was a transplant from James River High School for only six months during our senior year but I remember him as well as some of the others in our class. I was able to go back to James River and graduate with my own class which of course was much smaller than the one at William Fleming. May God bless each of you during this difficult time and cherish your wonderful memories.

Dan coached David on the ninth grade basketball team and in baseball through his high school years. Many on that baseball team have remained life long friends. They were a most innovative group of guys and used their talents to make our world a better place. We will miss David and send our love to his family and friends. Dan and Nancy Wooldridge
