Doris Meador Kinsey DeLong, 77, of Roanoke, Virginia was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 7, 2019.  Doris was proceeded in death by her parents Raymond L. and Virginia Meador; brother, Raymond L. Meador, Jr.; niece, Renee Cahoon.  Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 27 years Alvin DeLong of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law Cyndee and Chip Basham of Roanoke; grandchildren Zoe Basham and Kent Basham of Roanoke; sister-in-law Peggy Meador of Roanoke; niece Jenny Petty of Buchanan; stepchildren Sue Cyr of Des Moines, IA; Bridge DeLong of Blue Hills, ME and Amy Minton of Brunswick, ME.  Doris was a charter member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and continued to attend up until her death.  She enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the Roanoke City Department of Social Services and retired after 30 years’ service.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday, February 11, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home and 10 am to 11 am Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at North Roanoke Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life service to be held immediately afterward.
