Obituary of William Calvin Ronk

William Calvin Ronk, 91, of Fincastle died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Carilion Hospital from a head injury caused by a fall.

He was the son of the late John and Susie (Huffman) Ronk of Roanoke County.  He was a mechanic, farmer, and a teller of great stories.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Helen; daughters, Patricia Ann Ronk of Roanoke, and Linda Ronk (Solomon) Benedict of Russia, Ohio; sons, John Calvin (Mary Ann) Ronk of Wirtz, William Irvin “Billy”  (Nancy) Ronk of Fincastle, Richard Noah (Ethel) Ronk of Eagle Rock; grandchildren, Laura Siner, Lori Sammons, Steve (Jennifer) Benedict, Tim (Julie) Benedict, Heidi (Jake) Wolf, Michelle (Mike) Huy, Scott (Bridget) Ronk, Ben (Samantha) Ronk, Jessica Kuebler; eighteen great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Sink; nieces, Marilyn (Robert) Peters, Annette (Daniel) Peters, and Martha Lynn Ronk.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his  granddaughter, Ginger Ronk; great granddaughter, Naomi Faith Benedict; brother, Emory Ronk; sisters-in-law, Aleene Ronk, Dottie Ronk; brother-in-law, David Sink;  and niece, Judy (Sonny) LaPrade.

Due to family allergies, the family requests that there be no flowers.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission  or the Fincastle Rescue Squad.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Billy Boone, Richard Jamison, Billy Ronk, and Richard Ronk.  Interment will follow in Peters Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
