Obituary of Cynthia Lee Shockley

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cynthia Lee “Cindy” Shockley of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Thursday December 13, 2018 with her husband by her side. Her stepson, Nicholas Shockley and her parents, Thomas H. Roman and Willa Roberts preceded her.

Cindy was employed by Home Instead Senior Care, where she loved and enjoyed going to work helping others and everyone she worked with she considered family. And when she was not working, she enjoyed doing crafts, and volunteering with charities, which again goes back to helping others. A very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and person who is going to be dearly missed.

“Cindy faced cancer with being brave and denying it from keeping her away from her family and work. After being with her 22 years she was the definition of a workaholic, except when it came to her loved ones they always came first. She was blessed with a great bunch of co-workers that became her family with her last job. I know all of them in name even if I only know a few faces. She was always up for helping other with a charity or anything that others asked of her. I should know I think after becoming disabled I was her biggest charity.

Even in her final weeks and months we enjoyed our time together, usually trying to see who would be right predicting how the plot would unfold on her soap operas (she pretty much always won). Even in the end she worried more about others than herself, making sure she told everyone in her Hospital room she loved them. In the last few moments she had everyone one leave except me to ask if I was ok. Like many others my heart is completely broken.”

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jeff Shockley; son, Aaron Sifers and wife Francie; grandchildren, Bentley Sifers and Coltyn Sifers; sister, Deborah Scott and husband George; nieces and nephews, Autumn Spila, Brittany Chandler, Jason Scott, and Bradley Chandler; in-laws, Gary and Dianne Shockley; sister-in-law, Lisa Ahuero and husband Tony; close friends, Cory Lutz, Kathy Keese, Amy Joyce, and Chris and Betsy Head; coworkers, Stephanie, Zach, and Mary. Along with her canine companions, Princess and Moe Moe and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

in leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to your local ASPCA in Cindy's memory
