Obituary of Alice Day Underwood

Alice Day Underwood of Roanoke (formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio and Chantilly, Virginia) passed away on her 84th birthday, December 12, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Underwood, parents, Clifford and Gertrude Hauser Day, and sisters, Ruth Brigham, and Mary Ann Ambrosius.

Alice was a loving and devoted wife and  grandmother.  She was an active member and dedicated servant to her community and her church, Pender United Methodist Church in Fairfax, VA.  She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her children, David A. (Stacey) Underwood, Diane U. (Stan) Jones, Barbara A. (Jeff) Mintun; grandchildren, Rachel Emilie Jones, Grace Marie Mintun, Alexander Thomas Jones, Ryan Arthur Underwood, and Eric Arthur Underwood.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
