Obituary of Charles Edward McHenry Burger

Charles (Charlie) Edward McHenry Burger, 85, of Roanoke passed into his heavenly home Friday, November 16, 2018.  Charlie was born in New Castle, VA a son of the late Joe and Ozella Burger.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Shelborne Burger.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lenore Dooley Burger, brother, Robert (Geraldine) Burger, nephews, Bobby (Amy), Eric (Brooke); son, Alton Deisher and grandson, Kyle (Dude) Deisher, (Charlie's pride and joy).  Other surviviors include his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Ann Wood, Ralph (Jewell) Dooley, Herbert (Nancy) Dooley, Alan Dooley, Jack (Linda) Dooley, Roberta Settlemyre, Conrad Dooley, Helen Dooley (David Hawkins), Woody and Alma Green and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a very active at Hollins Road Baptist Church where he worked in many areas.

Charlie was a gentle soul, who loved the Lord and never spoke or had any ill will or anger toward anyone.  He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, his son, and grandson; his friends at Hollins Road Baptist Church and his Hardee's breakfast group.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Mark Washington.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 2-6 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
