Obituary of Lorraine Collins Caldwell

Lorraine Collins Caldwell, 82 of Masons Cove went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 2, 2018  to be reunited with her husband of 59 years, Linwood; son, Tommy (whom she had greatly missed), parents, Charles and Emma Collins, and Kathleen Rollins, brother, Richard Collins and sister, Donna Dooley.

She was a member of Hollins Road Church of the Brethren and  was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Surviving are her daughters, Renee’ Ferguson and husband Bob, Karen Schoonover and husband Emerson; grandchildren, Joshua Carlisle and wife Jordan, Heather Thurman and boyfriend Tracey Bowles, Emerson Schoonover, III and wife Christie, Adam Schoonover and wife Amy; great grandchildren, Taylor, Gabriella, Emma, Gavin Schoonover, Robert Ferguson, III and Reese Bowles; a special sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Boyd Purdy; sister, Joyce McConnell; brother, Dale Collins; special nephew, Jimmy Purdy and wife Patty;  and a host of nieces and nephews all of whom she loved, and her beloved pet and companion, Honey.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to mom’s caregiver, Tiffany Doran,( truly an angel for mom and her family).  Another very special person, Charles Arnold who made her beautiful each week, (thank you for your love and caring); and our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.  We thank you for your many acts of compassion and kindness.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Masons Cove Volunteer Fire Department 3810 Bradshaw Road Salem, Virginia   24153

Funeral services will be conducted  11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Ken Nienke.    Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
