Obituary of Nellygean Kimberlin Merritt
Nellygean Kimberlin Merritt, 92, of Roanoke went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 28, 2018. She was preceded by her parents, Grover and Elizabeth Dygert Kimberlin and her brother, Jack Kimberlin.
Nellygean was born on January 23, 1926. Her father helped build the “Bunkers” at the Greenbrier. After moving to Roanoke she married Guy Merritt a WWII veteran and local dentist who served and practiced in the Grandin Community for 56 years. She was very creative and excelled in sewing, baking wedding cakes and china painting.
She loved serving at First Baptist Church with her talents.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Dr. Guy B. Merritt; children, Jim (Sandra) Merritt, Elizabeth (Barry) Agnew, and Jeanelle Corrigan; grandchildren, Philip (Emily) Agnew, Chloe Agnew, Chelsea (David) Johnson, Merritt Corrigan and Michael Corrigan; two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in the Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Park by the Rev. Walter Pierce. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
