David Houston Mills, Jr.  On October 15, 2018, we said goodbye to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and father-in-law.  David was born in 1936 in Providence, Rhode Island.  He was preceded in death by his father, David Houston Mills, Sr. and his mother, Agnes Robertson Mills, both of Glasgow, Scotland.

David served for 17 years in the U S Air Force and 3 years in the U S Army.  He was most recently retired from the Veterans Administration in Roanoke, Virginia, having worked there for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Johanna Lupp Mills; children, Roger Mills of Roanoke, Charlina Mills McGee and husband David of Naples, FL and Asheville, NC, Scott Mills of Groton, CT, Lance Mills and wife Donnella of Roanoke; grandchildren, Devon McGee and wife Emily, Kelsey McGee Davis and husband Alexander, all of Charleston, SC, Cameron Mills and Summer Mills of Groton, CT; brothers, Robert (Bob) Mills, Thomas (Tommy) Mills and wife Eileen all of Providence, RI;  sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Christa and Richard Kohout of Omaha, NB; numerous nieces and nephews.

David was a Jehovah’s Witness for 40 years and has the hope of an earthly resurrection. (Matthew 22:31, 32; John 5:28,29; John 17:3)

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will follow in East Hill Cemetery Salem, VA.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
