Obituary of Betty Body Smith

Betty Body Smith, 84, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 8, 2018, which is also her 'real' birthday.  She was preceded by her husband of 64 years, William Cornell Smith, eleven brothers and sisters, and her parents, William Henry and Emma Hill Body.

Betty graduated from Narrows High School and attended Roanoke Buisiness College.  She was a full-time mother, made wedding cakes, taught sewing and owned Body's Limited, a women's fashion boutique in Alexandria, VA.  She was amember of South Roanoke United Methodist Church and a former member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Springfield, VA.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Terry and Linda Smith of Leesburg, VA, Dale and Kim Smith of Gainesville, VA, and Jim and Sherri Smith of Lawrenceville, GA; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to South Roanoke United Methodist Church 2330 S. Jefferson Street Roanoke, VA  24014.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Kirk Newman.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
