Brenda Grice Dunbar, 78 of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  She was preceded by her son, Duane Allen Dunbar, parents, Golden and Dorothy Grice and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil, Sr. and Helen Dunbar.

Brenda was a graduate of Buchanan High School and attended Lithia Methodist Church as a child.  She was a former employee of Kroger at Crossroads.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Cecil “Buddy” Dunbar, Jr.; sisters, Judy (Roy) Gross, and Patty (Corky) Coughlin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John “Billy” (Evelyn) Dunbar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family offers a very special thank you to Teresa and Laura, nurses with Medi Home Health and Hospice for their many acts of compassion and care.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Stuart Kelly.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  366-0707
