Obituary of Marie Carcreff

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marie Carcreff 94 left this world on Monday October 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 10, 1923 to the late Jean Le Goff and Anne Peron Le Goff. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years Eugene Pierre Carcreff and her son-in-law, Michael Cadou.

Marie was born in New Jersey and resided there for most of her life. She lived in France with her grandmother for four years when she was a child. During World War II, she met and eventually married the love of her life Eugene in 1947. Marie raised three children and cared for her aging and ailing parents. When the intense caregiving was past, she and Eugene became avid travelers, France, Italy, Germany, Hawaii, California, Florida, and Arizona were just some of their destinations. She also became active in the AARP, Chapter 1517 in Clifton and the St. Jude Senior Club of Hardyston. She was also the Sunshine Secretary for these organizations, as well as co-chairperson of the Hospitality Committees. Marie always found the time to make flower arrangements, corsages, and wreaths for everyone. Was always thinking of others, but her greatest calling was to her family, as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and Eugene moved to Roanoke in 2007 to be near their children.

Surviving are her daughters, Annette Holley and husband Jim, Denise Cadou, Jeannine Costa and husband Gary; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Mary Le Goff; seven grandchildren, Jeannine, Kristie, Robbie, Paul, Noelle, Jaclyn, and Steven; twelve great grandchildren, Logan, Alex, Evan, Alexandria, Jaxon, Sophia, Reese, Cameron, Ella, Kalin, Joshua, and Sarah. Along with many nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Warm Hearth in Blacksburg and to Commonwealth Senior Living in Christiansburg and well as Intrepid Hospice for their loving care and support.

The family will receive friends Saturday October 6, 2018 from 1:00-3:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 9:30am Sunday October 7, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home.
