Today we celebrate the life of our earthly father, Albert Dunbar, 82, of Craig County who went home to be with his heavenly father on Monday October 1, 2018, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Albert was preceded by his parents, Otho and Olene Dunbar, brothers, Thomas, John Lewis and Dexter Dunbar, and sister, Della Jean Baley.

Albert was a member of Bedford Church of God and retired from Yellow Freight Lines.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lois Dunbar; daughters, Melissa (Greg) Boone, and  Crystal (Kelly) Main, son, Keith (Heather) Dunbar; grandchildren, Grace Boone, Katie Dunbar, Cameron Main and Codi Dunbar; and  other family members and friends too numerous to mention.

The family offers a very special thanks to caregiver, Ashley Owens, Dr. Julia Ewen, Leigh Wingo,N.P., Nancy Reed, RN, hospice nurses, Joanne and Donna,  and other caregivers,  Jay, Brenda, Jeremiah and Roy Law, Chris Short, Stuart Brown, Naomi and Dan Walker, special friend, Justin Pittman, and the Craig County Rescue Squad and its members.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army, 724 Dale Avenue Roanoke, VA  24013

A celebration of Albert’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Pastor Jay Law will officiate.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
