Obituary of Thomas Eugene Powell

Thomas Eugene Powell, born 75 years ago and reborn into the heavenly family in 1961 through his faith in Christ’s blood applied to his sins. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Clark and a sister, Wanda White.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Velma Barger Powell; three children, Ricky Wayne (Janet) Powell of Mooresville, NC, Cynthia Kaye Zuberer of Louisville, KY, and Philip Ray (Holly) Powell of Roanoke;   eleven very special grandchildren, Jonathan(Erica), Ashleigh, Grayson, Taylor, Ashlyn, Peyton, Andalyn, Kinsleigh, Reese, Chase and Josiah.  Also surviving are stepdad, Ralph M. Clark; and brother, Darel (Wendi) Clark. 

Mr. Powell was a faithful servant at Shenandoah Baptist Church for 31 years and of Botetourt Community Church in Daleville, for the past four years.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Missions Fund at Botetourt Community Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with Pastors Ed Bailey and Robert Alderman officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Eagle Rock.  The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m.  Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home.
