Obituary of James Dallas Bryant

James Dallas Bryant passed away Monday, August 27, 2018.  He was born June 11, 1939  the son of the late John W. and Ola May Bryant.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Bryant and a granddaughter, Tiffany LaPrade.

Mr. Bryant retired after 37 years of service with the Norfolk Southern Corporation.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Shirley Bryant; daughters, Vicky Gillespy (Robert), Trina LaPrade (Mark Clements); and grandson, Robert Gillespy, IV; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

The family offers a special thank you to Jack Siar, Kathy Struble and the Carilion Hospice Team for their many acts of kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Mr. John Bennett.   Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
