Charlene Smith Dalton, 81, of Salem, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2018. She was preceded by her parents, and her beloved husband, James (Jim) P. Dalton. Charlene was a 50 plus year employee of Super X / CVS Drug Stores. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother - she was known to all as a fun-loving individual with a great since of humor. Surviving are her sons, Tony (Cindy) Dalton, and Keith Dalton; and those she considered her sons, Mickey, Steve, and Dale (Beth) Dalton; numerous grandchildren including Jon Dalton; sisters, Mryt McLain and Shirley (Howards) Meadows. A special Thanks to Wanda Dalton for calling mom everyday at 4:00 to check on her.  There were many people who loved mom and kept an eye on her.  Many thanks Mom loves you all.   Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Friday, August 17, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Botetourt County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
