Bette Beiger Lang, 87, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully Friday, September 7, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born May 20, 1925 in Highland Park, Illinois, a daughter of the late Hilton and Hazel Danner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Shields. Mrs. Lang was very proud to have worked as one of the "Rosie Riveter's" during World War II. She was affectionately known by her friends as "Bette Boop". Following the war, Bette moved to Florida, where she made her home for 61 years. During those years in Florida she worked as an interior decorator and artist.
She is survived by her children, Diane Beiger Jones, Nanette Furrow and husband, Mike, Laurel Beiger, Renee Strickland and husband, Ed, Ted Beiger and wife, Lynda; grandson, Brandon Beiger; and nephews, Michael and Richard Hostnick and Steve Shields.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society . The family has chosen to honor Bette's request that there be no visitation or funeral service.
