Obituary of Bettie McCann Hutton

Bettie McCann Hutton, 89, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018.  She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles William Hutton.

Bettie was born on June 12, 1929 to the late Charles and Helen McCann.  She grew up in Roanoke and attended Jefferson High School.

Her work career was being a full time wife, mom and homemaker.  She delighted in working in the garden, raising flowers, visiting the homebound and spending time with her family.  Bettie was a member of First Baptist Church, Roanoke.

Left to cherish her memory are her four daughters and their families:  Rita, Carl, Joshua, Summer, Jack and Kate Mahler; Pam, Heydon and Jacob Lewis; Joanie, Richard and Ginny Garman; and Amy, Howard and Stephanie Lyon.  Bettie is also survived by her brother Sherman McCann and his wife Ruby, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Bettie’s life, and in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Roanoke Rescue Mission – Women’s Shelter 402 4th Street Roanoke, VA  24013 or to the Central Virginia Area Agency 501 12th Street Lynchburg VA  24504.

A graveside service celebrating Bettie’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday,  August 1, 2018 in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Carl Mahler officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Friends may send their condolences by visiting www.simpsonfuneral.com  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
