Joann G. Edwards, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018. She was preceded by son, David Wayne Painter; parents, Joe and Norma Goode; sisters, Dottie Bowles and Betty Bushnell. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Ellen Painter, granddaughters, Amanda Painter, Jessica Reeves, great-granddaughter, Alijah; sisters, Louse Rigney, Eleanor Bowles, Diane Smith (Mike) brother Philip Goode (Rose); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joann graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952, and was a former employee of Edward Clark and G.E. Joann loved to travel, loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of Green Ridge Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.  A special thank you to all the staff at Friendship Manor for all the care. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home. A celebration of Joann’s life will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
